Where

We are holding our wedding in a historic aviary in Lynchburg, VA.  As described in the National Register of Historic Places, the Aviary in Miller Park "was a gift to the city of Lynchburg from Randolph Guggenheimer of New York City. When completed, the Aviary housed, 'Seven cages containing monkeys, one with at least a half dozen healthy alligators, one with cockatoos, one with Australian doves, one with parrots and one with canaries.' It later became a branch library and an office structure for the city Department of Parks and Recreation."

The Aviary

Following the wedding, we'll be hosting a reception with dinner and dancing at "Tresca on 8th" - a lobby in a historic building downtown at the corner of 8th & Commerce.  Originally, we'd planned on having the reception at the Aviary, too, but while it can hold seven monkeys, a half dozen alligators, cockatoos, doves, parrots and canaries, we don't think it's quite big enough for dinner and dancing (unless you want to eat on the floor, or alternatively dance on a table).

What this means is that you'll need to drive, or get a ride, from wherever you are staying to the Aviary, and then from the Aviary to Tresca.  It's about a 5-10 minute drive from the Aviary to Tresca.  I highly recommend you carpool, and encourage you to leave a comment below if you need a ride or can offer a ride so you can coordinate with other guests. While there is parking near Tresca, you may prefer to return your car to your hotel and walk to the reception venue.  Downtown Lynchburg is pretty compact and you can walk most anywhere in a few minutes.

We will be posting directions online soon, check back!
